Day 2 started out early again right at 6am of course! Anna actually slept completely through the night with very little coughing, thankfully! I still could use alot more sleep but felt better. We got up and gave the kids cereal and started unpacking. Very soon it became apparent that we would not be able to stay in this house, we won’t go into detail, it was a nice house, just not gonna work out for us. We sent our lawyer a message and she changed all her plans for the day to help is find a new place to stay!
So today we went down to the kids at their home and they all ran together and started playing!!!! No awkwardness today at all already!!! We brought a soccer ball with us so they played with that and played together while we talked to the drivers and lawyer to try to get a plan for the day. After that we went with the kids to drive to four different houses and together we chose! The kids chose the house with the pool and we picked the same one bc it had the most room. Our 12 year old was not as happy for it bc in the house she was going to have her own room and in this one she wouldn’t. But I reminded her about the pool and she said with a big smile esta bien (it’s good)!!!!! At the final house, Anna fell asleep in her big sister’s lap and slept for a really long time, even while I carried her to the car and then all the way in the car back to the kids’ house and then while I carried her into the house and while we say there and talked to the kids’ houseparents and then again back to the car!!!! For those that know Anna will know how strange this is. And yesterday she fell asleep watching a movie, which has never happened for either Ben or Anna EVER. Today was another tiring day and at the end of the day we were all dragging. The kids all said they want “reposo” or rest time tomorrow. They are all, all 5, very exhausted.
On more “official” adoption news…. We are getting the temporary custody of the kids tomorrow!!!! We go to PANI at 8:30 in the morning to sign some papers and then we go pick up the kids. They are all packed and ready to go.
Now I am quickly writing this while I hang out at the house of our friends, the Crawfords, while their kids and Ben and Anna play and Micah and our driver/new friend move the suitcases to the new house (which is more like a cross between a hotel and apartment building). The new place is a little small for us but has a beautiful pool and is close to our friends and many things to do!!! We have good hopes that it will be great!!!!
